For "Dragobete"

As the season of love is here I decided to create some jewelry filled with it. They are prepared for the Romanian equivalent of Valentine’s Day – Dragobete.

For those of you interested to find out more about the meaning of this day here are

some details :

Son of Baba Dochia, Dragobete was celebrated on the 24th of February. The celebration is considered the Romanian equivalent of Valentine’s Day, a celebration of love. Probably the 24th of February meant for the archaic man the beginning of spring, the day when nature awakes, the bear gets out of its lair, the birds start to look for a nest, so the human had to also participate to this event.

A magical entity, as Eros and Cupid are, Dragobete is different from the kind St. Valentine in the catholic religion, being a handsome and naughty man. Taken from the ancient Dacians, where Dragobete was a matchmaker and a godfather of the animals, Romanians transfigured Dragobete as the protector of love for those who meet on Dragobete day.” (www.wikipedia.org)

The jewelry is handmade, created from polymer clay using the millefiori tehnique and is not painted. The canes used are my own. The finishing is done by sanding, buffing, then adding water based polish for a long lasting finish. If you are interested in more details related to the process of making them visit my blog.

The accessories are from silver metal and the included ribbon has a metal clasp.

The ones that are not sold are available for sale on my DaWanda and Breslo shops. If you are interested you can also send me an email and I will tell you the details.
